They would say, “At least you have your health,’ ” Bice said. “I remember thinking, “I’m broke. What do I need my health for? I need money.’ “
Turned out that Bice had everything but his health. In July 2005, he broke a foot while performing. The following month, he was rushed into the emergency room for intestinal surgery to remove a blockage.
Since then, the Southern rocker has been hospitalized on 12 different occasions.
“I guess I should have listened to my grandparents,” Bice said during a telephone interview from his Nashville home. “I had all this money, but what good is it without your health? It was very hard for me.”
